Powerplay numbers: who scores fastest in the first six overs?
Thunder lead the way at more than nine an over, while two sides are still going at under seven.
The first six overs, with only two fielders allowed outside the circle, are the best time to score quickly. Some teams have used them far better than others.
Kathmandu Thunder have scored at more than nine an over in the powerplay, the best rate in the league. Sujan Adhikari has faced more powerplay balls than any other batter and scored at a strike rate close to 170.
The slow starters
At the other end, Butwal Warriors and Lalitpur Falcons have both scored at under seven an over in the powerplay. Both have lost all three of their games, and both have often been chasing the game by the tenth over.
Wickets matter too
Pokhara Peaks show that a fast start is not everything. Their powerplay scoring is only mid-table, but they have lost the fewest powerplay wickets, which has let captain Nirajan Gurung bat deep and accelerate later.
The takeaway
Early runs are linked with winning this season, but the best sides combine them with keeping wickets in hand. Expect the bottom teams to try new opening pairs in the coming week.
